Connecting his fascination for bats, documentary films about nature and pop-culture Jeremy Deller (* 1966, lives in London) will set up a video- and sound-installation inside the concrete hollow body of Deutzer Brücke, one of the central Rhine bridges, connecting the shores of Cologne City center and Köln-Deutz. The installation focuses on the 3D-shortfilm „Exodus“, filmed 2012 inside a bat cave in Texas, documenting the daily departure of a colony of more then 10 million bats from their cave into the landscape. Corresponding to the film, a mobile Dub Reggae soundsystem, self-built and provided by Cologne based Saint Riverside Soundsystem, is installed in the garage area of the bridge, for which Jeremy Deller and English producer Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound) will compose a dub track based on recordings of ultrasound bat communications.
